With the children on their annual break from school and parents itching for fun in the sun, summer often becomes a mad dash for activities and adventure. There’s nothing wrong with that, but there’s also nothing wrong with getting a few tips about the best opportunities in your neck of the woods.
Here are five things the whole family can do near Lehi, Utah, this summer:
There are acres upon acres of fun to experience at Thanksgiving Point Institute, a nonprofit farm, garden, and museum complex that draws upon the natural world to cultivate transformative family learning.
Interactive learning opportunities — plus heaps of fun — abound through Thanksgiving Point’s Museum of Natural Curiosity, Farm Country, Ashton Gardens, and Museum of Ancient Life. Also, there is wide variety of summer day camps for youths of all ages.
Ashton Gardens features 55 acres of gorgeous gardens — 15 themed gardens — and pristine lawns, along with the largest manmade waterfall in the Western Hemisphere.
From first-time hikers and families with little ones in tow to seasoned outdoorsmen looking for breathtaking challenges, there’s something for everyone in the area surrounding Mount Timpanogos, which is just outside Lehi.
What better way to celebrate Pioneer Day than with a huge quantity of foam? Wear goggles to Foam Day on July 24 in Lehi, as you’ll face a barrage of firefighting foam — but all in good fun. You’ll gather shoulder to shoulder with community members as firefighters turn a large field into what looks like a summertime winter wonderland.
The celebration takes place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. July 24 at the Sports Park at 2000 West 700.
If shopping is your thing, the Outlets at Traverse Mountain may be your best bet for escaping the heat and getting your stroll on. Located just off just off I-15, exit 284, this center features dozens of popular retailers, including Banana Republic, American Eagle, H&M, J Crew, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike and more.
Every Friday night from July 7 to Aug. 11, Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point is hosting a family-friendly film as part of its Outdoor Movie Series. The movies, which will begin playing at dusk, will include:
Families have a blast stretching out on a blanket — under the stars — with some popcorn and treats from the concession stand. The movies are complimentary with standard venue admission.
With so much fun ripe for the taking this summer, why not choose your apartment home right in the thick of it all? Some of the best apartments in Lehi are found at ICO Ridge, which has a country club atmosphere with the comfort craved by families everywhere.
